We Are Not Ready To Adopt CBT Now- WAEC

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has disclosed that it will not adopt the computer-based test (CBT) in the conduct of its examination.

This was made known by the Zonal Coordinator of the examination body in Abuja, Yusuf Ari.

According to him, despite the fact that CBT has proven to reduce examination malpractice, the board will still stick to the old method because of the nature of its examination.

He mentioned that the council does not only conduct examination in urban area but also rural areas unlike JAMB. Again, the council conducts examination in over 80 subjects with many of them having components. English Language for instance, comes in three components, consisting of practical, theory and oral.

He however added that the council may consider the option after adequate facilities such as sufficient computer systems, steady power supply and other infrastructural provisions are guaranteed.
