JAMB Warns Candidates Against Coming To Exam Venue With Bags And Wrong E-slips

The joint Admission and Matriculation Board has warned candidates against coming to the examination hall with personal items other than their e-slips and Biros.

According to Dr. Beatrice Okorie, head of the Lagos annex of the board, the instruction was clearly stated on the candidates' e-slips, yet many of them still came to the hall with their bags and phones and had to be sent back to go and drop those items.

Also it was discovered that many candidates came to the venue with the wrong e-slip.

These set of candidates were sent away as well to go and bring the reprinted e-slip.

“Before the examination commenced, the candidates were supposed to re-print their e-registration slips because the first one does not contain their centre and examination numbers. That was why some who did not were told to go and re-print the correct one,” she said.

JAMB Cancels Two Examination Centres, Relocates Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cancelled two centres due to poor facilities.

This was disclosed by the the Coordinator, National Headquarters Annex of the board in Lagos, Dr Beatrice Okorie.

The centres are Huntview Technology Limited, No. 4, Ayanboye St., Anthony village and the New Ocean Comprehensive High School, Megida, Ayobo area, Lagos.

Candidates who are yet to sit for their examination in the affected centres are to note that JAMB has provided alternative centres for them.

For candidates whose centres were Huntview Technology Limited, No. 4, Ayanboye St., Anthony village the new venue is now Jkk building, ETC Nigeria Limited, 229, Ikorodu road, Ilupeju.

While those that were suppose to sit for the examination at New Ocean Comprehensive High School, Megida, Ayobo area, Lagos will now Island Computers College, 99, Meiran road, Otapo Bus-stop, Meiran, Lagos as their examination venue.

Affected candidates are advised to go to their new centres immediately.

Officers of the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps have been stationed at the cancelled centres to direct candidates to the new centres.

JAMB Reacts To Complaints By Candidates Over Wrong Questions And Answers

As candidates continue to lament their challenges in the on going UTME, some candidates have complained that some of the questions on English Language were wrong as the answers are not available in the options given.

According to the candidates, JAMB should put this into consideration when marking and grading them so it doesn't affect their scores negatively.

However, when contacted, the Public Relations Officer, JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said the portion in question is the comprehension part whereby they have to fill in the gaps.

“You know these students are in a hurry to finish and most of them don’t take their time to go through the questions. Even some candidates in one of the centers I visited pointed out that to me and I had to explain to them that in comprehension, you have to fill in the gaps. I can assure you that JAMB didn’t make any mistake when setting the questions.” He emphasized
