FUPRE Disables Admission Screening Registration Portal For 2016/2017

This is to notify all aspirants of Federal University of Technology (FUPRE) that the registration portal has been shut down till further notice.

It is believed that this is linked to the recent directive by the Minister of Education that all institutions should stop the conduct of Post-UTME in any guise.

Candidates should await further directive from the management.

FG Insists No More Post-UTME, Directs That Money Paid By Candidates Be Refunded

The Minister of Education, Mr. Adamu Adamu, on Monday, emphasized again that tertiary institutions should stop the conduct of Post-UTME. He directed those who have already advertised the exercise under any guise to retrace their steps immediately or face appropriate sanction.

He equally directed that all tertiary institutions who before now have conducted the exercise to return the money paid by candidates as the exercise stands annulled.

The minister made this known through the Deputy Director (Press and Public Relations) in the ministry, Mr. Ben Bem Goong and instructed that the National Universities Commission and appropriate departments in the ministry communicate this directive to relevant agencies and institutions to ensure strict compliance.

According to him, the screening that will be recognized is such one that involves only the verification of certificates of the candidates, JAMB scores, and any other physical examination to ensure that such candidates are not cultists. Such screening should be at no cost to the parents or students and should be done upon resumption in order to avoid unnecessary travels in search of admission.

The minister will tomorrow meet with Vice chancellors, rectors and provosts as well as other stake holders to work out modalities for the conduct of admission screening.

How To Increase Your Chances of Gaining Admission This Year - A Must Read

Anyone that has been following the 2016/2017 admission process should be able to underscore the fact that it is not going to be an easy one for candidates especially as most candidates quest is to gain admission into a university with little or no consideration for polytechnics and Colleges of education.

Going by the figure released by JAMB as the number of candidates that scored up to 180 (which is the bench cut-off mark for all institutions) in the last UTME, it is easy to see that the number of candidates that will be jostling for admission far outweighs the carrying capacity of all the universities in the country put together. This means that a good number of candidates who ordinarily are qualified to gain admission into universities of their choice will fail to secure one because of this obvious fact.

Candidates are therefore advised to spread their options instead of putting all their eggs in one basket. Take all your choice schools Admission Screening/Post-UTME seriously.

As schools have started announcing their admission screening exercises/post-UTME many candidates will likely have their minds centered on just the universities of their choices neglecting the polytechnics and Colleges of education.

This does not seem like a wise thing to do, unless of course you have made up your mind that it is either a university or nothing else. In that case even if the admission does not favour you this year, you can try again next year.

But for those who really need it this year, don't just buy the screening/post-UTME form of your choice universities only; also get those for your choice polytechnic and college of education. That way, you have increased your chances of gaining admission this year.

Wish you success.

Forget "Admission Screening" Prepare For Post-UTME As Usual

The Federal Government’s directive for post-UTME to be scrapped seems to have come at a time when schools have already started putting plans in place to conduct the exercise for 2016/2017 academic session. Some schools had even announced theirs before the directive came.

It was expected that the scrapping of post-UTME should mean that schools will not demand screening fees/charges from candidates. But going by observations, that is not the case.

The major reason being that schools have already invested in logistics and planning in preparation towards the conduct of 2016/2017 post-UTME before the directive to scrap it came. So they have to recuperate what they have already invested, hence the reason for screening fee/charges.

Similarly, you must have observed that institutions that have announced the start of their admission process for 2016/2017 session have used the nomenclature "Admission screening" to replace the post-UTME. But looking at the procedure and screening details, you need no prophet to tell you that what you're going to have this year is Post-UTME as usual.

What this means for candidates is, forget "admission screening" and prepare for post-UTME as it has always been.

In many schools, the so called "admission screening" will be nothing than what post-UTME has been like in previous years.

So don't relax and think there's going to be a change or that the screening will be a walk over. One vital lesson you need to learn in life is to always prepare for the worst.

If you have been cooling off, you better start blazing now. Get the relevant materials and start preparing. Don't forget that one key material you need in your preparation is the Post-UTME Past questions and solutions of your choice schools.

Probably schools will be able to adjust to the directive to scrap post-UTME entirely by next year. But for this year, we have to face the reality.

Wish you success.

The Scrapping Of Post-UTME Does Not Mean There Won't Be Screening

One of the major decisions taken at the end of the 2016 policy meeting that has all the stakeholders in the education in attendance, was that post-UTME should be scrapped.

Obviously, many candidates do not understand the import of this going by the number of calls we have been receiving concerning this.

Many of them think that since post-UTME has been scrapped there's not going to be any form of screening before they secure admission.

For the avoidance of doubt, schools are going to still conduct screening for candidates. However, the method of screening will differ depending on the school.

Now you may wonder what's the big deal about scrapping post-UTME in the first place? The scrapping of post-UTME only means that schools are not to conduct screening exercises similar to JAMB UTME. Many schools screening exercises seem more like sitting for JAMB UTME again because the same subjects you sat for in JAMB UTME are what you are being tested on again. According to the education minister, Mallam Adamu Adamu, that does not make sense.

So while schools were directed not to conduct screening exercises similar to JAMB UTME, they are at liberty to conduct other forms of screening for their candidates.

So if you have been whiling away time thinking that since post-UTME has been scrapped that there won't be any form of screening before you are admitted, you better wake up now and start preparing to avoid unpleasant surprises.
