Today Is Your Day - Stop Flaming And Blaming

“Yesterday is a cancelled cheque,
tomorrow is a promissory vote.
Today is the only cash you have,
so spend it wisely” – kim lyons

Today is a brand new day. There
is never been one like it, there
will never be another like it.
Yesterday is gone, today is a new
beginning.

Everyday is a great
day. Today will be great if you
make it so. Don’t bring
yesterday’s miseries into today’s
happiness. Don’t invite
tomorrow’s worries into today’s
joy.

Don’t settle for less than what
today has to offer you. If you
bargain less, today will not give
you more. Today and indeed life
will only give you what you ask
for.

Dream big dreams, think big
thoughts. There are no shortages
of ideas today. Make up your
mind to win today. You can
create an exciting future by
making your day great and taking
massive actions on your dreams.

Yesterday’s opportunities might
have gone but today brings new
ones. Today does not care about
yesterday’s failures. Today only
thinks of the many chances you
have.

Today favours no one. Each of us
have 1,440 golden minutes in
which are hidden 86,400 exciting
seconds. Both the small and the
great, the poor and the rich, the
educated and the uneducated,
the old and the young have 24
hours opportunities today.

You have 24 hours to think good
thoughts, do good deeds,
changes. Your mind, adopt new
attitude. Improve your values,
stop flaming and regretting, have
a new beginning, feel good and
be happy, smile and laugh,
correct yesterday’s mistakes, to
run and win.

Don’t make your today look like
yesterday. If you did small things
yesterday, you have an
opportunity to do great things
today, if you waste your today,
you won’t have a tomorrow. What
you do today will determine the
results you receive tomorrow.

Anon said “every is a great day; if
you don’t, it… Try missing one.
According to Benjamin Franklin,”
one day is worth two tomorrow”
The perfect to enjoy life is today.

Don’t bury today in the valley of
indecision, the sea of
painlessness , the river of
procrastination, or the deset of
under achievement. Get excited
about your today and don’t allow
anybody to steal it away from
you.

Today well lived will make
you a champion tomorrow, if you
have aborted yesterday at least
you have today. Stop looking
down start looking up.

JAMB 2017 UTME Use of English 2 Compulsory Novels

JAMB has recommended 2 Compulsory Novels that candidates are to read before their exams, starting 6th May, 2017. The 2 Novels are;

1. "In Dependence" by Sarah Ladipo Manyika for UTME Candidates

2. "The Last Days at Forcados High School" by A.H. Mohammed for Direct Entry Candidates

According to the instructions, candidates will be tested on these 2 novels in Use of English, which is compulsory for every candidate, regardless of the course you intend to study in school.

A lot more JAMBites are familiar with OPTION 2 above, being that it was the only Novel that was used in testing during the 2016 UTME. OPTION 1 however, is a newly introduced Novel for 2017.

While a lot more students are only interested in buying registration forms, they neglect to look deep into other instructions, which may be critical to the success of their exams in May.
From the instructions released by JAMB, it is clear that "In Dependence" ought to be for UTME candidates alone, while "The Last Days at Forcados High School" will be used by Direct Entry Candidates.

If you go by the instruction stated above, this simply means that UTME candidates will get questions asked from the book "In Dependence", while Direct Entry will get questions from "The Last Days at Forcados High School".

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AN EXAM
In as much as, JAMB has clearly stated and differentiated between the 2 texts, THIS IS AN EXAMINATION and JAMB is free to test you from any source they deem fit.

Whether you are a UTME student or a Direct Entry Student, we, will advise that you get yourself acquainted with BOTH NOVELS. There is no knowledge lost with doing so.

Please go out of your way to adequately prepare for this exam by Studying both novels and expecting questions from either of them, whether you are a UTME or Direct Entry Student.

The novels are not too voluminous and the stories are interesting for you to read within the next 2 months. You should be able to read and understand the entire story of both novels.

There should be no boundaries to what you should study. Ensure you cover the Entire JAMB Syllabus for your subjects and read extensively.

We will be creating other threads as per revision for the Novel "In Dependence", as time progresses so ensure you visit the Success Point Website at least twice daily.

If you have issues about the novel that you feel Admin and other students can help you with, don't hesitate to post it as a comment, then check and wait patiently for a reply.

JAMB Confirms Exam Dates for 2017 UTME

The Joint Admission And Matriculation Board has officially confirmed that the 2017 UTME (the actual examination) will commence 6 May and end on 20 May, 2017 (excluding May 12, 2017 because of Candidates sitting for WAEC's Further Mathematics examination).

That simply means that the examination will commence 2 weeks after the end of registration.

You can consult the official JAMB 2017 Registration guidelines for the detailed registration timeline and information.

If there are no challenges, the examination is expected to last for only 14 days.

For candidates who usually wait till after the registration to start preparing for examination, I believe by now you already know it's not going to favour you this time.

So your best option is to start studying seriously and if you have been doing that already, well done!

JAMB 2017 Registration To Last For Just 1 Month

Like you must have known already, the official commencement date of the 2017 UTME registration has been announced.

The sales of registration form will officially commence on March 20th, 2017 and end on April 19th, 2017 while the registration on JAMB's portal ends on April 22nd, 2017.

The UTME itself begins May 6th, 2017. That's exactly 2 weeks after closure of registration portal.

For complete details on the 2017 UTME registration, click here

Apparently, JAMB has altered the timeline associated with the whole process.

In previous years, UTME sales of form and registration usually lasts for 3-5 months and the examination comes up like a month or two afterwards.

Now, we are witnessing something out of the usual. 1 month for JAMB registration and UTME commencement exactly 2 weeks after registration deadline.

How this will ultimately affect the performance of candidates and the outcome of 2017 UTME results is what we will wait to see.

Meanwhile, we would like to get your opinion on this. Do you think it is a step in the right direction and will this in any way affect candidates?

“In Dependence” - A New Book Introduced By JAMB For 2017 UTME Candidates

According to the information on the official publication announced the registration details and process for 2017 UTME, a new book: “In Dependence” by Sarah Ladipo Manyika, has been introduced for candidates sitting for 2017 UTME.

Irrespective of your course of study or method of testing, you will be tested on this book.

A Little About The Book: “In Dependence”

The book is written by a Nigerian named SARAH LADIPO MANYINKA who was born in Ibadan (South West Nigeria) in the late 1930s.

"In Dependence" tells the story of Tayo Ajayi, a Nigerian man who gets a scholarship to study at Oxford in the 1960s, and Vanessa Richardson, the daughter of an ex-colonial officer. Tayo meets and falls in love with Vanessa Richardson, a British colonial officer’s daughter. And they negotiate their relationship against a background of race and racism. While it is a story of their love which spans from 1963 to 1998, it's way more than that.

It's also a story about Nigeria, its independence and the changes that occur in the country post-independence - the Biafran war, the first coup and the numerous countercoups, military dictatorships, the brief return to civilian rule, exile of Nigerians, and towards the end of the book the eventual return to democracy.

There are also issues of race, racism and cultural differences.
