The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Zana Itiunbe
Akpagu this morning at the council chambers briefed the gentlemen of the
press on the arrangements that has been put in place for the
convocation ceremony.
Vice chancellor of the University announced that the activities of the
institution's 29th Convocation began yesterday March 9th during the
interdenominational service and will run through Saturday March 12th,
2016.
He disclosed that a total number of 7,222 persons would be awarded
various diplomas and degrees in the University during the Convocation.
He said that the institution would also award 4,868 students with 1st
degrees, 952 students with higher degrees and 1,402 students with
diplomas.
He also revealed that automatic employment will be given to 12 students
who graduated with first class in the 1st degree category.
It was learnt that the former Gov. Donald Duke of Cross River would be
honoured for transforming Cross River, and a former senator, Florence
Ita-Giwa, for her contributions to the women folk.
