JAMB Enables Portal To Check Institution You Have Been Posted For 2016 Admission

As promised by the Joint Admission And Matriculation Board (JAMB), the portal for candidates to determine the institution they have been posted for 2016 admission has been enabled.

Candidates can actually check the institutions they have been posted for 2016 admission.

The portal is yet to be made official on its website, which goes to show that the candidates details are still being uploaded.

So if you check and it does not display your details, you can always check back.

-On the page that opens, enter your JAMB Registration Number in the space provided.

-Click on "Check where you have been posted for admission" to access the details.

MOUA New Admission Screening Procedure For 2016/2017 Academic Session Announced

All candidates who scored 180 and above and made Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike first Choice are eligible.

Registration Guidelines
Candidates must register online. To register, candidates must proceed as follows:

-Candidates are to visit the University Website at www.mouau.edu.ng.

-Click on the 2016/2017 Admission Screening banner.

-Enter a valid email address for records purposes.

-Input JAMB Registration number, this leads you to the Remita payment platform where a Remita Retrieval Reference(RRR) number is generated with which payment of N 2,000.00 can be made. Payment can be done by debit/credit card or by taking your RRR number to any bank nationwide and deposit cash. Return to the site to continue registration.
Note: transaction charges apply (P.S: if you encounter any challenges after payments, kindly contact the University portal Office).

-Register by filling an online Application form and selecting proposed Department and other requisite details.

-Candidates are required to fill in their WAEC/NECO/NABTEB Examination details for proper verification.
Information needed include WAEC/NECO/NABTEB Examination number, Type of Exam, Year of Result, Examination Scratch card details (PIN and Serial Number on the card).

-Upload either WAEC/NECO/NABTEB results or any other result that qualifies you for the screening exercise.

-Candidates awaiting result should upload Scanned copy of Exam Slip in the field provided for Results upload. You would also be required to provide the following: WAEC/NECO/NABTEB Examination number, Type of Exam, Year of Exam, Examination Scratch card details (PIN and Serial Number on the card).

Note: Some fields are pre-filled and cannot be changed.
Fill the form, submit and take print out after executing the Submit button. System sends a copy of submitted forms to your email for records.

Come for the Admission Screening with the following materials:
-Print out of filled form as this contains candidate’s unique Admission Screening number and shows as an evidence that candidate has registered for the Admission Screening.
-One coloured copy of your JAMB photo page.
-WAEC/NECO/NABTEB Result( Photocopy ).
-Copy of Birth Certificate /Sworn Affidavit Evidence of Birth.

NOTE

-Mobile phones and other devices will not be allowed.
-Parents and guardians will not be allowed in the University compound on the screening days.
-Inconsistency in name, picture or date of Birth in any of the documentation may lead to disqualification.
-Candidates are to ensure that registration details provided conform with information on certificates presented for the screening.

All You Need To Know About The New JAMB Admission Screening Model

We are dedicating this thread towards enlightening candidates seeking admission into higher institutions on what the recently proposed JAMB Admission screening model for admissions actually means.

For the sake of emphasis and clarity, the raw facts will be omitted. What you have here is the interpretation of the raw facts to allay the confusion of many candidates. But if you are interested on the raw facts, you can find that HERE.

If the proposed model for admission as proposed by JAMB is to be adopted for 2016/2017 admission process, below is how the admission process will run and all you should know about it.

1. JAMB must offer a candidate an admission before such candidates qualifies for screening in the institution he or she has been provisionally admitted. This means that institutions can only screening candidates sent to them by JAMB as having been provisionally admitted in such institution.

2. Institutions admission screening processes will now be based on point system. The first on the point system is the O'level grading. Candidates who have only one O-level result will stand a better chance of gaining admission than candidates with 2 results. One 0'level result = 10marks/points while two O'level results = 3 marks/points.

Similarly, each grade will now have its equivalent points/marks in this manner; A=6 marks, B=4 marks, C=3 marks which means the having better grades in your O'level result gives you a better chance of securing admission.

The next to be considered on the point system is your UTME Score. Candidates will be awarded marks/points based on their 180-200=20-23 marks, 200-250=24-33 points, 251-300=34-43, 300-400=44-60 points. The higher your score, the higher your chances of securing admission.

This means that what we previously know as institutions cut-off-marks will now be known as institutions cut-off points which will be arrived at after putting all the aforementioned into consideration.

3. JAMB provisional admission is now a means to an end and not an end itself. This means that JAMB may offer a candidate a provisional admissions and such candidate will still be denied admission by his/her institution because he or she comes below the cut-off point for his/her course in that particular institution.

For instance you may be given provisional admission to study MBBS in UNIBEN by JAMB having obtained a UTME score of 260. If your institution's cut-off point for medicine is 95 points and you come below that number of points after the screening, you will likely be denied admission.

4. Admission process will still put into considerations factors like catchment area and ELDS (Educationally Less Developed States) in determining the number of candidates admitted. Admission by merit is 45%, catchment area 35% and ELDS 20%.

The issue of Science to arts ratio will still be in place. For universities Science to arts ratio will be 60:40 , Polytechnics 70:30. However for specialized institutions (Technology, Science Agriculture etc) it will be 100% related to their specialty. Also 90% of admission will go to UTME candidates while 10% will go to Direct Entry candidates.

5. Schools are still at liberty to charge a certain fee for the screening of candidates. However, the Board did not stipulate how much institutions are to charge for this.

Institutions May Have No Other Choice But To Adopt FG's Directive

A source has disclosed that Vice chancellors of federal, state and private universities that were present at the recently concluded meeting convened by JAMB to determine the admission screening model may have no other choice but to submit to the FG's directive that post-UTME be scrapped.

It was learnt that the vice chancellors attended the meeting with their minds prepared to defend their stand on Post-UTME but were told that the FG's directive on the issue is final.

The source noted that the Vice Chancellors were categorically told to cancel any other form of screening they have announced and refund the money paid to the candidates.

AAUA Chapter Of ASUU Embarks On Indefinite Strike

Report has it that the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba (AAUA) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has embarked on indefinite strike following non- payment of 3 months salaries.

In a notice sent to the members of the union by the chairperson, Dr Sola Fayose, the members were directed to withdraw all their services to the university with immediate effect pending when the 3 months salaries and 7 months deductions have been paid in full.

The notice added that having waited enough for a positive change in that regard with non coming forth, the union has no other choice but to lay down their tools while it hope that the issues be resolved soon enough.

JAMB Proposed Model For Screening Of Recommended Candidates (Doc)

The Joint Admission And Matriculation Board held a meeting at the B.O Ukeje Auditorium, Nation Commission for colleges of Education, Central Business District Abuja on Tuesday 28th, 29th and 30th to map out admission screening modalities for Colleges of education, polytechnics and Universities.

The meeting was chaired by the permanent secretary ministry of education, Dr. Shade Yemi-Esan.

After evaluating the screening models of some schools in previous years and other factors surrounding the admission processes in tertiary institution in the country, JAMB released a proposed model for the screening of recommended candidates.

PROPOSED JAMB MODEL FOR SCREENING OF RECOMMENDED CANDIDATES

1. Screening of candidates shall be for ONLY candidates recommended for admissions.

2. No written examination to be conducted.

3. Verification of Course Requirements (O’ levels or A’ levels).

4. Verification of valid JAMB results by checking:
i. Online Result Slip
ii. Printout
iii. Provisional Admission Letter
iv. Photo Album
v. Checklist
vi. Biometrics

5. Institutions are free to source from other Course(s) to
compensate for SHORTFALL in any of the criteria.

Note:
The list of candidates that have scored above the minimum cut-off mark, and are NOT admitted may be forwarded to other institutions that need them for consideration. Especially their Second (2nd) Choice institutions of preferences.
