4. Confirm your eligibility and availability of your desired course.
5. Click the "Application Form" link and select the Postgraduate option from the Application Type menu
6. Complete the Pre-Application Form to obtain a Payment Reference Number (please print the payment advice).
7. Proceed to make payment of the sum of N22,500.00 (Twenty Two Thousand and Five Hundred Naira Only) for the Form, the SPGS Abridged Prospectus and charges through any of the options below:
a. Remita Payment: Any commercial bank using the RRR number displayed on the payment advice
b. Online Payment: Click the PayNow link to make payment directly on the portal with your bank debit card.
8. After payment, return to School of Postgraduate Studies website http://spgs.unilag.edu.ng, click the 2016/2017 Application link, then "Continue Application" link, login with Payment Reference Number and provide surname in lowercase as password.

9. Complete the Application form and upload digital passport photograph (jpeg format) which should not be more than 15 kb in size and must be in white background. The acceptable dimension is width: 275 pixels or 35mm, height: 314 pixels or 40mm. (Failure to comply with specified image format may lead to disqualification.)

NOTE: (a) Credit pass in Economics is required for Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Extension and Rural Development with at least a pass in Physics, (b) Credit pass in Agric Science is required for Agronomy, Fisheries, Animal Science, Forestry and Wildlife Management with at least a pass in Biology.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
(a) Admission into 100 level from Pre-degree is not automatic.

(b) Pre-degree candidates are required to take the 2017 UTME and obtain the minimum pass mark of UTME for Universities, and as agreed upon by the University.
(c) Admission of candidates will be dependent on their Weighted Average in the two semesters, the UTME score and their ranking with respect to the cut-off marks for the chosen courses.

(iii) Once your confirmation is successful, log in with your receipt number.

(iv) Fill the Application form appropriately, submit online and immediately print-out an acknowledgement slip.

Imo has highest number of UTME candidates…beats 8 northern states combined

Whereas 98,028 candidates from eight northern states and Federal Capital Territory sat for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, Imo State had 104,383 candidates, CHARLES ABAH reports

Details of the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination emerged on Monday with Imo State indigenes topping the list of applicants that sat for the examination.

The state topped the state of origin statistics table with 104,383 (about 6.56 per cent) of the 1,592,305 million candidates that sat for the examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board this year.

This comes as only 14,242 candidates from both Kebbi and Zamfara states applied for the examination. Whereas only 5,295 candidates from Zamfara State sat for the examination, 8,947 others from Kebbi State sat for the qualifying examination to the nation’s higher institutions.

The Computer-based examination for entrance to the universities, polytechnics and colleges of education, which held between February 27 and March 23, took place in 540 centres in Nigeria and eight overseas countries.

The countries are Benin Republic, Cameroun, Cote D’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

Delta State came second on the table with 78,854 candidates (4.95) in the examination in which only 25,445 of the 1,592,305 million candidates applied to study Agriculture.

The third on the table is Anambra State, which produced 77,694 or 4.88 per cent of the candidates.

Imo State, a reliable source in JAMB confided in our correspondent, has remained on top of the table for many years.

In the examination, which only 24,160 Lagos State indigenes sat for, their Osun State counterpart had 72,752 candidates, placing it in the fourth position.

The statistics obtained exclusively by our correspondent also revealed that Oyo State, with 72,298 candidates (4.54 per cent), came fifth, while Enugu State placed sixth with 69,381 candidates or 4.36 per cent.

In the seventh position is Edo State with 66,107 or 4.15 per cent of the candidates, while Ogun State placed eighth with 62,973 candidates.

Ogun State, with over 15 universities and polytechnics, has the highest number of tertiary institutions in the country. It has 10 private universities comprising the Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo; Covenant University, Ota; Bell University, Ota, established by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Crawford University, Igbesa.

Others are Chrisland University, Abeokuta; Mountain Top University, Ibafo; Christopher University on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, McPherson University, Seriki-Sotayo; Hallmark University, Ijebu-Itele, and the Crescent University, Abeokuta, founded by the former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Prince Bola Ajibola.

Akwa Ibom State, which placed ninth, had 62,369 candidates, while Benue State, in the 10th position, led the pack from the 19 states in the North with 60,160 candidates.

Kogi State placed 11th on the rankings with 57,694 candidates, whereas Kwara State, which accommodates the University of Ilorin, had 54,606 candidates.

UNILORIN, as in the last two years, still occupies the first slot in terms of attracting the highest number of applicants. One hundred and three thousand, two hundred and thirty-eight candidates applied to study in the university this year.

The University of Benin, Edo State, with 81,363 candidates and the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, with 75,383 candidates, came second and third respectively.

Fifty-six-year-old University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, attracted 65,954 candidates to place fourth, while Bayero University, Kano (64,220), and the Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka (61,862) came fifth and sixth respectively.

The University of Lagos, with 60,659 candidates, is placed seventh ahead of the nation’s oldest ivory tower, University of Ibadan, with 59,176 candidates. In last year’s rankings, 68-year-old UI was placed seventh while UNILAG was fifth.

Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, retained the ninth position it occupied in 2015. This year, it attracted 45,924 candidates.

The University of Jos, which was not among the top 10 sought, after universities in 2015, improved on its rankings, placing 10th this year with 40,366 candidates.

For the private universities, the Covenant University, Ota; Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State; Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo; and the Igbinedion University, Benin, Edo State, occupied the first four positions in terms of attracting candidates’ interest. They had 2, 586; 1,304, 1,248 and 418 candidates in that order.

Missing on top 10 private universities among candidates are the Bell University, Ota and the American University of Nigeria, Yola, Adamawa State, founded by former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar.

The Madonna University, Okija, Anambra State (370); Bowen University, Iwo (329); Al-Qalam University, Katsina (308) and the Baze University, FCT (277) came fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth in that order.

The Bingham University, Karu, with 247 candidates, and the Benson Idahosa University, Benin, Edo State, with 204 candidates, occupied the ninth and 10th positions, out of the over 60 private universities in the country.

Still on the rankings, the lowest 10 states in terms of applicants are Niger, Borno, Taraba, Adamawa, Jigawa, Yobe, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara and FCT.

While 18,231 Niger State indigenes applied for tertiary education this year, Borno and Taraba states had 15,697 and 15,672 candidates respectively. Adamawa, Jigawa, Yobe and Sokoto had 15,615,12,664, 10,045, and 10,006 in that order. FCT had only 4,087 candidates.

Meanwhile, of the 1,592,305 million candidates that sat for the examination, only 68,481 candidates applied to study Education.

Social Sciences topped the faculty table with 362,567 candidates.

The breakdown further reveals that whereas 336,694 candidates sought to study Medicine, 95,182 others applied to study Law.

Engineering/Technical/Environmental courses with 228,195 candidates attracted a higher number of applicants than Administration and Arts/Humanities, which posted 88,029 candidates.

Similarly, 217,150 candidates considered Sciences this year.

In a related development, 565,479 or 10.46 per cent of the entire candidates, who sat for the examination, scored 200 out of possible 400 marks.

Also, 821,095 or 15.20 per cent scored 190 and above, while 1,053,979 or 19.50 per cent scored 180 and above.

The cumulative performance statistics also revealed that 1,370,837 or 25.37 per cent candidates obtained 170 and above, whereas 1,474,999 or 27.30 per cent got 160 and above.

At the rung of the ladder are 117, 290 or 2.17 per cent candidates that scored below 160 marks.

The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, had two weeks ago announced that 180 marks would be the minimum score for any candidate seeking admission to the nation’s higher institutions this year.

The carrying capacity of all tertiary institutions in the country this year, a reliable source at the National Universities Commission told our correspondent on Monday, was 695,449.

The source also revealed that of the 1,592,305 applicants, 1,557,017 of them, representing 97.78 per cent, applied for university education, while 17,673 or 1.11 per cent sought admission to the colleges of education.

Seventeen thousand five hundred and eight-four, representing 1.10 candidates, applied for National Diploma in the polytechnics. The remaining 31 applicants, representing 0.002 per cent, applied for NID.

RSUST Admission Screening Exercise 2016: Eligibility, Registration And Screening Details Announced

All candidates who chose the Rivers State University of Science and Technology during the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and have received notification to that effect from JAMB are hereby requested to take note of the following:-

i. The screening exercise for admission of candidates will be administered only on candidates who chose RSUST and have received notification to that effect from JAMB.

ii Only candidates who scored 180 and above in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are qualified for the screening exercise in all the Faculties of the University.

iii. Candidates must possess the basic five (5) O’ level credit passes in accordance with the University’s Entry Requirements (Faculty/Departmental) before applying for the screening exercise. It is mandatory that Candidates should upload their O-Level results and a scanned copy of their passport photograph. However, candidates who are awaiting their O’level results may apply but should so indicate.

iv Candidates are expected to register for the screening exercise On-line by logging onto www.ust.edu.ng and making e-payment of Seven Thousand (N7, 000.00) Naira only, using Interswitch Verve enabled cards or using the Pay Direct Bank Branch option, comprising One Thousand (N1, 000.00) Naira Application fee, Four Thousand, five Hundred (N4, 500.00) Naira Test Fee, One Thousand, five Hundred (N1, 500.00) Naira for Computer Demonstration Exercise.

v Candidates are to note that the mode of screening exercise is ELECTRONIC and SUBJECTIVE. It is important that candidates practice how to use the computer especially the use of mouse and keyboard before they turn up for the screening exercise. In addition, the Information Technology Centre (ITC) may be conducting a 1-week demonstration session for candidates prior to the date of the screening exercise.

vi The registration for the screening exercise will start from Monday 13th June, 2016 and end on Friday 1st July,2016.

SCHEDULE FOR THE SCREENING EXERCISE
The screening exercise will take place from Monday 4th July, 2016 to Tuesday 12th July, 2016 at the Information Technology Centre (ITC) of the University.

Candidates are requested to please note that the screening exercise is as scheduled in the screening exercise slip they printed out after their On-line registration.

The scheduled date, time and venue shall be indicated in the test slip.

Consideration will not be given to candidates who fail to appear for the screening exercise on the scheduled date and time.

All candidates for the screening exercise are required to come to the Venue with their test slip printed out during the On-line registration.

Candidates are also advised to come to the venue with their JAMB original Result Slip that bears their passport photograph.
Candidates should note that GSM phones WILL NOT BE ALLOWED into the hall during the screening exercise.

Parents, Guardians and Well-wishers are advised to stay away from the venue of the screening exercise.

Kogi State University Renamed After Late Former Gov. Abubakar Audu

Kogi State University has been renamed after the late first civilian Governor of the state, Prince Abubakar Audu by the current Governor, Yahaya Bello, on Friday.

The announcement was made during a state wide broadcast to mark His victory at the election petition tribunal.

According to the Governor, this is the ultimate honour that could be done to the memory of the late colourful politician who ruled the state twice as the civilian governor from 1991 to 1993 and 1999 to 2003.

It was gathered that the late Audu established the university in 2001 and named it Prince Abubakar Audu University, but his successor , Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, changed the name to Kogi State University in 2004.

As was disclosed by the Governor, an executive bill would soon be forwarded to the house of assembly to formalise the change in the name of the university.

We Won't Conduct Post UTME Since We Have Been Directed Not To Do So - OAU PRO

A statement which was purported to have emanated from the Public Relations Officer of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-ife (OAU), Olanrewaju Abiodun has is that the institution in line with the Federal government's directive will not be conducting Post-UTME for candidates seeking admission into the institution this year.

According to the statement credited to the PRO,"OAU is owned by the federal government, so we will not conduct our own Post UTME since we have been directed not to do so"

However, how the institution intends to run the admission process for this year was not disclosed.

Ajayi Crowther University Cancels Post UTME 2016 Registration

The management of Ajayi Crowther University in compliance with the Federal Government's directive that all institutions should scrap post-UTME, has ordered the cancellation of the scheduled Post UTME screening earlier published to hold in Oyo, Lagos, Abuja and Portharcourt.

LASU Admission Screening 2016: Eligibility, Screening And Registration Details

Applications are invited from qualified candidates for the Lagos State University 2016/2017 Admission Screening Exercise, for candidates seeking admission via UTME (100 level). These screening exercises are mandatory requirements for entry into Lagos State University.

There shall be two rounds of Admission Screening Exercise.

2. ELIGIBILITY

A. Candidates who have Lagos State University as their Choice of institution in the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME), and have scored a minimum of 190 marks are eligible to participate in the Admission Screening Exercises. In addition, candidates must be at least 16 years of age.

B. ALL Direct Entry candidates who wish to be considered for admission into Lagos State University for the 2016/2017 academic session, who must have obtained Direct Entry Form from JAMB are also eligible and must apply for the screening exercise. However, these applicants are EXEMPTED from the Admission Screening. Online registration is compulsory for them.

C. Candidates of Lagos State Origin, for 100 & 200 levels will be required (if admitted) to prove their claims before the Independent Indigeneship Verification Committee (lIVC) set up by the Lagos State University.

D. Candidates should note that ONLY the accredited courses listed below are available for the 2016/2017 Academic Session. Therefore, only candidates that have chosen any of the underlisted

3. METHOD OF APPLICATION

A. ONLINE PAYMENT

1. Prospective students will visit www.screening.lasu.edu.ng and select MAKE PAYMENT option in the drop down list at the top, to make the required payment of N5,000 for the 2016/2017 LASU Admission Screening Exercise.

The prospective students would be required to submit the following:

a. JAMB Registration Number

b. Surname, First name, Middle name

c. Email Address and telephone number (both must be active and personal to the applicant)

2. Click on PROCEED

3. On the next page, a TRANSACTION ID to be used for PAYMENT would be displayed. The candidate should copy this TRANSACTION ID and proceed for PAYMENT at http://www.quickteller.com/lasu

4. On http://www.quickteller.com/lasu page,

(i) Click on PAY

(ii) Enter your email address, GSM number.

(iii) Also enter the Transaction ID copied in step 3 above

(iv) Proceed to enter details of your ATM card

(v) Click Process payment

(vi) Print your Payment receipt from the screen. A transaction message will be sent to your email and GSM, hence the need to use your personal E-rnail address and GSM number.



B. SCREENING EXERCISE REGISTRATION

1. After successful payment for LASU 2016/2017 Admission screening exercise, return to www.screening.lasu.edu.ng and select CONTINUE REGISTRATION option in the drop down list at the top.

2. Prospective candidates should enter the required details (JAMB Registration number, surname and Mode of Entry - UME or DE).

3. Click on PROCEED button to load the Registration Form.



Each applicant is expected to complete the registration form by providing the following information.

· Candidates will be required to upload a scanned copy of their passport size photograph (File Size: Not more than 20KB; File format: JPEG [i.e. ‘jpg’]). Application for change of passport photograph by candidates given provisional admission shall NOT be allowed. This same passport photograph, uploaded by such candidates, will be used on their degree certificates.

· ONLY ONE CHOICE OF COURSE OF STUDY IS ALLOWED

· Carefully study the agreement form. If you agree to the stated terms, click on the 'I agree’ button on the left-hand side of the page.

Note: If you do not agree to the stated terms you will not be permitted to go beyond this point. Please read and understand the terms before registering.

· Fill in all required details contained on the online registration form. Confirm THAT DETAILS ARE ACCURATE then click FINISH. To make changes, before you click finish, you may click on the Edit button.

· Candidates must possess five (5) O' Level credits in subjects relevant to their desired course of study at not more than two sittings.

· Credit in English Language is compulsory for admission into all courses in Lagos State University.

· Candidates awaiting the result of NABTEB, WAEC (May/June) and NECO (June/July) 2016, are eligible to apply. Note that any examination taken after July 2016 shall not be accepted.

· Make sure you print your Registration Form/Slip as this serves as your entry ticket into the screening hall.

. Candidates are advised also to come to the screening venue with their JAMB Original Result slip that has their passport photograph on it.

 · Candidate should know that both payment and registration would end two [2] weeks before the advertised date of the Screening Exercises.

· Candidate should visit www.screening.lasu.edu.ng a week before the advertised date of the Screening Tests to check the Sitting Arrangement and reprint the Registration Slip.


Registration for the payment of application fee for the Admission Screening Exercise starts from Thursday, June 9, 2016 and registration closes Friday, June 24, 2016.


Applicants for the LASU 2016/2017 Admission Screening Exercise should NOTE that the screening will be conducted using the newly developed "LASU-COMPUTER BASED TEST (CBT) SOFTWARE".


All applicants are therefore advised to re-visit LASU Admission Screening Exercise portal as from JUNE 27 – JULY 3, 2016 to re-print their Admission Screening Identification Slip in order to know the venue, date and time of the screening.

Applicants who DID NOT choose LASU as the University of Choice in the 2016/2017 UTME are not eligible.

The detailed results of the screening shall be published on LASU website: www.lasu.edu.ng immediately after each day of screening.

ABUAD 1st Batch Admission Screening Date And Details For 2016/2017 Announced

The first admission screening Exercise of Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) is scheduled to hold on Saturday 18th, June 2016 by 10.00am.

Registered candidates are to visit http://admission.abuad.edu.ng/to print your preferred Screening Centre Card.
