Man Arrested For Impersonation In The Ongoing 2016 UTME

A man has been arrested in connection with impersonation in the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination Conducted by JAMB.

According to reports, the man was caught attempting to sit for the examination for a girl.

While speaking on the issue of impersonation, the JAMB Registrar, Professor Dibu Ojerinde, said that the issue of malpractice has been drastically reduced. However impersonation is still a major problem.

"people want to come in and do the exams for others. However, the fingerprints of candidates are scanned at the entrance and their pictures appear on the computer and you can’t escape that. We caught some impersonators in Anambra or Imo State. They swapped seats, we saw a girl on the screen and a man sitting." He said.

Highest JAMB Score In 2016

A student by the name Ibrahim Shamwifu from Kogi state has broken JAMB record with a score that might not repeat in 10 years.
JAMB UTME results for the 2016 CBT is rolling out as the board is doing their best to have the results delivered to the candidates as fast as possible.

The student  has shattered JAMB score record with a UTME Score of 399 of 400, what a genius!
Nigerian students won’t stop surprising the world with their display of academic excellence. It was the other day that a student of UNILAG graduated with a CGPA of 5.0.

This should be the highest JAMB Score this 2016 UTME. A summary of the result is;

Use of English = 99
Physics = 100
Biology = 100
Chemistry = 100

Giving a total of = 399

The student is going for medicine and surgery in ABU.

Even without yet concluding the exam, it is far to say this would be the highest ever recorded.

Senate Reduces Cost of JAMB Form, Extends UTME Result Validity

Report reaching us has it that the senate has passed a resolution which stipulates that the registration fee for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination conducted by JAMB yearly will henceforth stand at Two Thousand, Five Hundred Naira (2,500) as against the current Five Thousand six hundred and fifty Naira (5,650)

This followed the adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund on the inquiry into the new JAMB admission policy.

Other resolutions reached include that the validity of the UTME Result be extended to three academic sessions and that other JAMB services like the change of Course and institution be made free.

The senators also resolved to amend the JAMB Act to reflect the new resolutions.

The question now is; will JAMB be willing to comply with these resolutions? So while we commend the senate for these resolutions, we equally urge them to ensure that JAMB implement them because that's what truly matters.

Paper-Pencil Test Could Be Re-introduced in UTME - Minister Of Education

The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu has expressed concern over thousands of Nigerians who are disqualified from participating in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for not being computer literate.

According to him, the paper-pencil could be re-introduced until such a time more Nigerians, especially those in rural communities become computer literate.

In his words, "I seem to be very comfortable and happy with what they are doing. But my question has not been answered; that there are many people who are not computer literate, so, what do you do with them. I do not have reservation about CBT but sympathy for those who are not computer literate and there are many of them.

When asked if he was suggesting that the Board re-introduce paper-pencil mode of examination alongside CBT, he said, "I think so; for some time. But certainly the future is for computer."

The minister, however, said he was satisfied with the conduct of the CBT mode of the examination so far, adding that he was glad the board has addressed most of his concerns and other Nigerians.

Solutions to 2016 JAMB CBT Experiences

The thread highlights the Problems that candidates experienced during their exams on 27th Feb, 2016 and their possible solutions.

We believe you've been waiting for this thread, so we will just jump right into the issues and tackle them using Our staff experience of computers and exams generally.

First, we will like to thank all 27th Feb JAMB Candidates for giving us the the hints and inspiration to write the post. We love you all and we equally wish you success.

1. TIME: The timing for the 2016 CBT exams has changed, although the number of questions are the same. This means you have to work with time while Practicing JAMB Past Questions. The new time is 2hrs 45Mins. The time in previous exams used to be 3hrs 30mins. We are still not sure what inspired the decision for shortening the time but it simply means you have to now work harder.

2. CALCULATOR: For the 2016 JAMB, you will be using what is called an "ON-SCREEN Calculator". You will no longer be using physical, hard calculator. This type of calculator is the type you activate from the computer and you simply click on the values as you see them on the screen. It's just like the type on your mobile phone. According to reports from candidates that wrote on 27th Feb, the button for the calculator is located at the bottom right corner of the JAMB CBT Environment. Just click on it and the calculator will appear.

If you want to practice how to use an "ON-SCREEN Calculator" on a computer system. Open the calculator from your computer, follow these steps;

i. Click on the start menu at the bottom left of your screen.
ii. Find and Click on "All Programs".
iii. Find and Click on "Accessories"
iv. Then Find and Click on "Calculator".
v. It should be very easy to use.

If the calculator you see now, is the type you see on the exam day, you can easily switch to the "Scientific" or "Statistics" part of the calculator by clicking "View" among the top menus in the calculator.

If you will be needing a calculator, you should practice using it before the exam to save you a lot of time and errors you can avoid by calculating using paper.

3. Rough Sheet: Some candidates have complained they were not given rough sheet, while others say they were given. Either way, you have to go prepared. We suggest, you make 2 extra photo copy of your Exam Slip. I believe you will be allowed to take this into the hall and you can use that as a back-up.

4. Log-Out Issues: Some candidates complained that sometimes, the system just logs them out of the exam. Don't Panic! Just simply log in again by using your JAMB Registration Number or call the attention of an invigilator.

5. What CBT environment is like: According to a candidate, the mode of asking questions, and navigating is similar to the GHS CBT Classroom Exam. So you can practice for free to get yourself acquainted.

6. Circumstances beyond your control: There are some issues that may occur, which are way beyond your control e.g. Power Shutdown, Network or Server Issues e.t.c. In this case, you have to pray that the issue is resolved as quickly as possible by the staff of the centre.

7. GUESSING Software: There is really no guessing software. If you see your time is almost running out, do the best you can to select the right guesses and ensure you select an option for every question. You might just guess right.

8. CALCULATOR DECIMAL: So we realized some more students complained that they could not find (dot) (Point) (Decimal) (.) on the calculator, for them to click. This means they could not solve questions like 0.00234 x 0.987. The solution to this is to use the (dot) (Point) (Decimal) (.) on the keyboard. This means you click on the number, then "TYPE" the dot.

9. We may UPDATE this number if there is any further solution to an experience we feel we should share so please come back later and reload this page from time to time to see if we have added any new thing on this number.

If you have any point you think we missed out, post it as a comment to inform others. We will monitor this thread to see if this publication needs to be updated with your point.

Goodluck!

JAMB May Actually Be Using An Anti-Guessing Software - Candidates Please Read This

I wish to inform all JAMB candidates that are yet to participate in the on-going UTME that what JAMB called anti-guessing software could be real after all.

Why do I say so? I am a victim of it. When my result was sent, I scored 176. This is not because I am dull but I think it has something to do with the so called anti- guessing software.

I think this is how it works; if you choose an answer, it will be saved and if you later change it, some marks will be deducted from your score.

So I will advise all candidates to select an answer once and never change it. If you want to guess, just guess once.

This is just my Observation based on my experience.

If you have noticed this too please comment and share your facts.
